Do The Right Thing

A man once said, “The older we get the more we realize that we are born looking like our parents but die looking like the decisions we have made.” Every day we are faced with countless decisions in different kinds of situations. Some of these decisions can be very mundane and monotonous and others can be of great weight and significance. Nevertheless, we are always making decisions. Even the very act of not making a decision is still a decision, even if it doesn’t seem like it. With that being said, we have all come to crossroads in our lives where the rightdecision has to be made. Where the choice is black and white with no grey area. These moments aren’t always easy. As a matter of fact, it might seem like making the right decision can prove to be demanding. The right decision can even be unclear  and you could even find yourself confused or uncertain on what to do. You may ask yourself things such as:

“How do I make the right decision?”

“What is the right decision?”

“What will happen if I don’t make the right decision?”

“What will my friends say?”

“What will my family say?”

“Will this ruin my reputation?”

The questions can create a never ending spiral, but nothing will change until action is taken. While everyone may have unique situations that require unique answers, there is one place we can all go to for help when we are faced with difficult choices and uncertainty. That is the word of God. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight” (KJV). You see, God’s word has the answer to every decision with which you may be faced. You don’t have to worry about trying to figure it all out. God has already done that for you. All He asks is that you trust Him and that you follow His leading and guidance. The best place to start is by turning to His word. You can be assured that when you learn to trust in the Lord and follow his word that “all things will work for your good.” The word of God is still very much alive today and is available to give you wisdom in your time of decision. So, friend, if you find yourself in a place where you just can’t seem to find the strength to do what is right, or are still trying to figure out what is right, turn to the word of God and let it give you the power and wisdom you need to get you going in the right direction. God is for you and He is with you. He’s ready to set you on the right path. After all, He is the WAY, the truth, and the life. His arms are open and He’s waiting on you.
